Frankly, I am not sure if people are really ready for racial equality or political dissent. The Democratic Party now tries to control the dialogue of ethics, racial equality and social enlightenment by removing blog entries from their blog site. It is done in a way that never addresses the fact that we keep sugar coating things like "mispeaking" versus lying. Honoring agreements and rules versus changing the rules whenever it suits the losing side is another example of integrity in these primaries.
Until the Democratic Party regains an honest dialogue about true ethics and stops putting up bad candidates for the job, we will never regain our moral authority in this country, much less the world. There are volumes and volumes of evidence and material that make a very strong case for why the Clintons should not go back to the White House and why she is still in this race and yet the DNC and the media insist on keeping the American public in the dark. There must be every effort made to fully confront issues and have them addressed. Sweeping our candidate's sins and weaknesses under the sofa only makes us look like hypocrites.
Recently, I posted a challenging observation on the www.democrats.org website that made the assertion that perhaps the party of diversity, the party of inclusion, the party of the people is not all that concerned with racial equality and social enlightenment when the people of color; brown, black, red or yellow might take the win and the white man or woman might not be in control. In short the discussion suggests the following: Who knew that the Democratic Party might be racist when people of color don't remember their place at the table, their place on the bus or their place in the party? They removed the entry and now it leads me to wonder out loud, "Wow, now my party is the party of censorship." It was a controversial observation, but certainly one worth investigating and discussing.
Every time people say "Black America needs to get over slavery. It happened in the past. Get over it!", it makes me want to cry. It is like saying, "Hey you Jewish people, just forget the Holocaust. It's in the past. Get over it!" You never hear anyone telling Jewish people to get over a traumatizing part of their history.
If we as a people choose by deliberation to forget or ignore our history; good, bad and ugly, we are doomed to repeat all of our mistakes. To criticize our government or to dissent with our parties does not make us 'Un-American" or "Un-Patriotic". Criticizing our government is not the same as hating our country. Political dissenters love their America as much as the GOP NeoCons or in some instances, the DNC.
If Obama wins, then we can answer the topic. If he loses, it will be because racism and political expediency is alive and well in America. I pray that Obama wins the next series of primaries so that we can end this wasteful spending of money that will be needed to beat John McCain. If the Clintons really cared about the DNC getting the White House back, they would stop this expenditure of precious money. The fact that they are not being elder statesman and woman is proof that they are not really thinking of our country's greater good, only theirs.
